Aloe vera barbadensis
This aloe produces large quantities of medicinal gel in its long, strap-like leaves. The color of the foliage is a strange brownish color with slight tints of a light lime green, bearing dramatic 3.5 feet spikes of brilliant yellow flowers in late winter through summer. Though this plant will tolerate some shade, and even achieve foliage colors that are a little bit more on the green side, it is best in full sun. The large rosettes can grow to be 2-3 feet tall, and will pup out to the sides, forming clumps up to a couple feet wide. Water-wise.
