Verbena rigida

Common Name: Sandpaper Verbena

Verbena rigida, commonly known as Sandpaper Verbena has brilliant purple flowers most of the year in mild climates, and until hard freeze in colder climates.  Hardy to 0 degrees.  Low growing perennial with dark green foliage freshens up nicely with a mow once or twice a year when looking a little floppy.  Immediately grows right back and fills in again with flowers!  Slowly spreads with underground stems, and is not liked by rabbits or deer. Somewhat drought tolerant, but thrives on regular garden watering.  Great from mountains to desert, to coast.  Full sun.
