Alstroemeria sp., commonly known as Peruvian Lily, has blossom that resemble azaleas, usually in two-toned colors blooming winter through early summer. These evergreen hybrids love the sun, but also do well with light shade. Flowering season can be prolonged by pulling out spent stems. Free and graceful growth habit. Likes regular watering. Hardy to high teens. Dwarf or compact varieties grow in tight clumps less than a foot tall with the same colorful flowers. Needs partial shade in hot interior valleys.
